Northern California Wedding Planner | Whitney Peak Hotel Wedding ~ Megan & Zach

Life can throw you a curve ball that you weren’t expecting but it is what you do with it that counts! Megan and Zach are serious #couplegoals for their ability to smile through it all even when feeling the stress of needing to change their wedding venue from Argentina to the states in just a matter of months. We were mesmerized by their courage to have an international wedding in the first place, surely a party that would have been for the books but what they focused on was family - and that is the most memorable element of your day!

Our role with Megan & Zach was a little unique because we created a virtual/remote planning package in order to assist with both the Argentina details and assisting guests in the states. We loved the process of researching cultures, accommodations & travel details for Argentina and to hear about the day-to-day lives while Megan & Zach were living abroad. Once they were stateside and had gotten to a good place with Megan’s father’s health we were able to help switch gears and research possible venues in the surrounding areas with availability and the perfect amenities to meet their needs. Megan found the wonderful gem Whitney Peak Hotel and the rest fell came together beautifully!

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed delicious appetizers and drinks while Megan & Zach finished up photos, we loved that Worldlove Films captured the reception details so beautifully from the decor, to the meal & of course dancing!

Thank you to the whole team of creative partners who contributed to this wonderful destination wedding!

Northern California Wedding Planner | Friday Introduction!

Hello there and welcome to our blog! If you are new here, I hope you will check out some of our recent posts & tips and recent weddings. I’m back from a short vacation to Hawaii, and since we just so happen to have some awesome new photos by the fabulous Diane Nicole Photography, it seemed fitting to throw in a quick introduction post!

If we haven’t met yet, my name is Veronica and I have been blessed to watch this business grow over the last 8 years. It is such a blessing to be able to serve our couples, and to consistently improve upon our craft with education and experience with every event along the way.

A little about me

  • I’d take a cold brew coffee over a glass of wine any day

  • Got married on 10/10/10 to my husband Daniel

  • Mommy to two girls under 5 (yes it can be just as chaotic as it sounds)

  • Currently teaching myself sketch rendering and hope to eventually learn 3D rendering

  • Obsessed with anything related to real estate, and HGTV fixer upper shows

  • Have serious puppy envy, but settling with fish pets for now!

  • Fall is my absolute favorite time of year, so I will always have a soft spot for fall weddings

I can’t wait to post some more photos from our shoot and introduce our whole team of ladies here at The 530 Bride! In the meantime, you can hop over to our about us page to learn more!

Northern California Wedding Planner | Can you do it all?

When I talk to couples about planning their wedding there can be a lot of elements that they feel confident about doing on their own. It’s understandable to want to cut costs, and to want to feel connected to the details of your wedding. What some clients don’t realize is that you are going to have a lot on your plate in the weeks leading up to your wedding so you aren’t able to approach these projects with a lot of free time.

Even when you have an open schedule, you won’t be able to solve the age-old problem of being in two places at once. We find the most stressful situations that we hear about are when the couple has booked a venue for one day and have 12 to 15 hours total to bring in all of the decor, set-up - hold the event and then break down.

The reason we have our Wedding Management package is to help couples tie up these loose ends and organize some of these elements so that our team can handle placing the details and fine tuning everything while the couple enjoys getting ready with their wedding party or family. They get to walk down the aisle and look around at their venue with all of their special people surrounding them and not worry if everything is ready for cocktail hour and the reception.

So if you are considering doing some of the work yourself, here are some do’s and don’t’s:

Projects that you can tackle early on such as collecting the centerpiece vessels (wood boxes, vases, vintage books, lanterns, jars, etc) that you can take to your florist to use for the arrangements, or creating cute signs & photo prints that you want to place around your venue to personalize your space —> Yes!

Intricate details that need to be assembled on the day of your wedding at each of the 150+ place settings —> No!

Seating charts and escort cards when your guest count is finalized two weeks out —> Yes!

Anything that can melt or wilt (flowers, cake, desserts, bags of ice) etc —> No!

Custom sign-in books, welcome table signs, keepsakes and other handmade items —> Yes!

Cleaning-up/Breaking down the tables, chairs, linens, rentals and garbage on your wedding night —> No!

To learn more about how we can help you have a stress-free wedding day, we can get started with a complimentary consultation!

Northern California Wedding Planner | Our 2017 Wedding Season is Wrapping Up

2018 Is Just Around The Corner - Here's How 2017 is Winding Down For Us

We've been so busy with consultations and meetings for 2018 couples the last few weeks but we wanted to take the time to talk about just how amazing 2017 has been for us thus far.  Not only have we worked with awesome couples, we've also launched our sister company The 530 & Co. allowing us to help businesses create beautiful websites, branding & SEO services  and virtual assistance.

Oh and we can't forget the shiny new ring on Delphine's finger! - She's engaged and will be saying her I Do's in September of 2018.

We'll be creating a full wrap-up blog post at the end of this month, but here is just a sprinkle from our season! Click the photos below to scroll -->

Last year, we set a goal to make 2017 the year we focus on education, training & team development.  We believe that investing in education and professional development is really important because we want to continually improve on what we can offer to our couples.  Staying up on the best practices in business, planning & design will translate into being more efficient with clear systems and processes in our business and an even better service for our clients for years to come.

We've asked our clients for their feedback on their planning experience because it is ultimately the best way we can measure our growth and success.  It means the world to us to know that we have helped couples enjoy their wedding day and that the investment in having a planner was more than worth it to them.  Their words gives us the warm & fuzzies, and their referrals to friends & family are a cherry on top!

2017 Wouldn't have been so sweet without our couples but also our fabulous team of ladies that we appreciate so much! We celebrated with a team appreciation dinner at the delicious Panighetti's Restaurant on Friday & had so much fun recapping the highlights of year.

Northern California Wedding Planner | StrongHold Ranch ~ Jessica & Chris Bagshaw

You know that feeling of having butterflies in your stomach? That is the feeling we had when we witnessed this incredible couple said "I do."

Chris and Jessica came to us in a frenzy due to a situation that pushed their planning process back. When we received a phone call from them, we immediately began tying loose ends to ensure that their wedding day would be the best day of their lives!

The best part about this scenario was that we had the opportunity to work with such a relaxed and amazing couple! It definitely makes this "job" much easier!  Their love speaks for itself in these gorgeous photos.

Northern California Wedding Planner | Live Oak Wedding ~ Lindsey & Juan

Around here we say "love" a lot, but how can we not when we are surrounded by it? It's a pretty amazing experience to get to be invited into two people's world and help them celebrate their commitment to each other.  Marriage is not about the wedding, its about the people and the understanding that it takes two to build a life together.  Lindsey and Juan are a couple who wear their love proudly and it is incredibly sweet to see how smitten they are.

It was no surprise their wedding was filled with intimate and emotional moments followed by laughter and joy as their family and friends gathered to witness them become husband and wife.  Juan planned a beautiful serenade during dinner, and Lindsey's sister and maid of honor knocked out a wedding toast that would put sir mix-a-lot to shame.

We love our "job"! Please enjoy these highlight images captured by Diane Nicole Photography, we couldn't narrow down our favorites!

Northern California Wedding Planner | 2016 in Review

Veronica's Year in Review

2016 can't already be over can it? Well the calendar is telling me that it's a done deal! Let's see, 2016 was a pretty great year I'd say. Our team grew and I met miss Delphine, who has blossomed into an amazing planner and business partner.  {Please excuse our cell phone photos, we're planners not photographers}

I feel blessed to have had a busy wedding season with amazing clients even while sporting a fabulous baby bump! Here's our family/maternity photos. Looking back it seems like the pregnancy went by so fast, but I know that it didn't feel that way in the middle of summer!

Just like that, in mid September, I met the newest addition to my little family Adriana Danielle! It's true what they say about having kids, you truly didn't know that your heart could love that much until you have your own tiny humans.

Northern California Wedding Planner | Inspiration Overload

Pinterest, Instagram, so many ideas and only one wedding to plan!

Clink those champagne glasses and share that ring selfie! We know that being newly engaged is a whirlwind of emotions and inspiration, and it is so easy to get lost in the shuffle of all of the sites and google searches.  Once you start to look for local ideas or perhaps even start looking into booking vendors you are going to get some initial questions ( what is your wedding date, approximate guest count, budget and if you have a wedding theme/color palette.)

With all of these questions coming at you, just how do you choose a wedding theme? Should you choose a wedding venue before or after deciding on a theme? These are important, let's dive in!

Keep in mind that design themes can vary. For example "rustic", or "vintage" can look very different depending on who you ask.  Rustic can be lots of exposed textures like wood and metals which can be perceived as industrial inspired as well.  Visually, its important to find pieces or ideas that you like and to jot down notes about what you specifically like. A month from now you might ask yourself why you pinned something, so try to be specific in the notes section when creating new pins to a board.

We will always recommend setting a budget and come up with a realistic guest count BEFORE you book your wedding venue.  You don't want to go down the road of being venue rich and wedding poor (just made that up.) Seriously if you hypothetically fall in love with an $8500 venue and your budget was supposed to be 10K; now what?

Once you have set a budget, venue research and design ideas should be next.  Pick one to two venues that represent that theme or atmosphere to you. Compare the two venues side by side and decide on your must-haves!

Less is more so try to focus first on the basics like seating, food, beverage and music.  Attend a local wedding expo to see firsthand what some of the options are, then book some initial consultations with vendors that you are interested in.  These consultations or even phone calls with vendors will help you get a sense of what is available in your area, and who you vibe with! Budget is important, but so is having a connection with your potential team of vendors.

Once you have your primary vendors booked, don't be afraid to ask them for recommendations or look through some of their albums from previous weddings and events to see if any ideas stand out to you.  You don't have to reinvent the wheel, just add your personal touch through the details.

Seating charts, escort card tables, or personalized wedding favors can really tell a story.  While creating a seating chart seems like a hassle, it can really make the transition from cocktail hour to reception smooth because guests don't have to scramble to find a table that seats their whole party and it can often ensure that your immediate family have a seat within a good view from your table.

Share your Pinterest board with your wedding planner or vendor team to give them an idea of what inspires you, they may have some recommendations or ideas on how to incorporate those details into your overall design.

Making it Official | Marriage License FAQ's

The run down on applying for a marriage license .. tips and frequently asked questions

The marriage license is what seals the deal folks! All of this time spent thinking about your timeline, photos, flowers and the buffet.. don't forget to schedule a time to go to your county clerk's office together and sign on the dotted line!

A snapshot of an application for a marriage license, courtesy of Butte County Clerk Recorders Office

A snapshot of an application for a marriage license, courtesy of Butte County Clerk Recorders Office

Here are some questions that we get often:

  • We are getting married in another county, do we apply in the county we live in or the county we are getting married in?  You will apply for the license in the county you live in, and the ceremony can be performed anywhere in California.
  • Can we apply online? No, both of you will need to be present
  • What forms of ID are required?
Typically, you will just need a photo ID such as your drivers license, passport or military ID
  • Is there a waiting period? No waiting period; the license may be used upon issuance
  • What happens if we forget our license on our wedding day? Hopefully we can send a runner to go get it, but if it is truly not available for the ceremony than you can choose to proceed as a "commitment ceremony" and the officiant will not be able to state that you are husband and wife.  Then most likely you would need to make an appointment with your officiant to sign the license..Unfortunately that document cannot be backdated. It has to be signed on the date is presented. (But hey, that's why you hired a wedding coordinator and you will have us to nag you about bringing that license with you!)
  • What if we make a mistake when we are signing our license after the ceremony? Speaking from experience (our officiant signed on the wrong times) You will have to have an addendum issued by the clerks office.  This just means instead of a one page marriage license yours will be two pages.

Have more questions? Make sure to visit your local county clerk recorder's website for specific instructions and feel free to leave us a comment or shoot an email to

6.25.16 - Ashley & Jarrett | Rustic Country Wedding Colusa CA

There was the most relaxed vibe on Ashley & Jarrett's wedding day, like everything had fallen into place just as it should.  These high school sweethearts were ready to make it official!

We started planning Ashley & Jarrett's wedding and instantly fell in love with their love! A classic high school sweetheart story always tugs at our heart strings but it was the way that Ashley seemed to be always be smiling when she talked about Jarrett that sealed the deal.  We had never planned a wedding on a pig farm before, but Ashley had every base covered like a pro and she made our job easy by choosing amazing vendors to help every detail come together.  We couldn't be happier to have been a part of their wedding day, and wish them a lifetime of happiness!

Thank you to Bill Payne Photography for sending us some of the highlights of Ashley & Jarrett's wedding day and we are excited to finally share them on our blog!

Can we talk about this bouquet for a minute? The Country Florist brought Ashley's vision to reality and we were in love with all of her florals. Just breathtaking!

Yes, it was a large wedding party and yes it was so worth it! These folks had a blast and helped make Ashley & Jarrett's wedding day so special!

Ashley & Jarrett's wedding monogram was used throughout her wedding, so it was only fitting to have their monogram be the staple of the evening and up in lights on the giant hay bale wall! The Wedding DJ was amazing with all of the lighting used, it transformed the ranch into a magical place! The moral of the story, is that a couple's love is what make's the wedding oh and don't underestimate a pig farm!
